David Alan James Rathkey

United Kingdom citizen who died in the terrorist attacks in America on 11 September 2001.

David Alan James Rathkey was born on 28 April 1954 in Eton, Buckinghamshire (now Berkshire) a son of Colin James Rathkey (1919-1993) and Eileen Florence Violet Rathkey née Bray (1924-2014). Electoral registers from 1955 onwards show that the family resided at 65 Oaken Grove, Maidenhead, Berkshire.

His first job as a financial trader with Barclays took him to the Channel Island of Jersey and to Cardiff, Wales, before a career change landed him in the United States in 1981. He took a job with Arbat Systems in Hoboken, New Jersey, USA, met his wife, Julia, and in 1988 moved to Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. They had twin sons, Matthew and Ian, and a daughter, Emma.

He became a systems consultant for IQ Financial Systems and died, aged 47 years, whilst working in their offices on the 83rd Floor, North Tower, 1 World Trade Centre, Manhattan, New York, USA, on 11 September 2001.
