Derek Antonowitz

A computer consultant, killed in the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster, aged 25.

Andrew Behan has kindly carried out further research: Derek John Antonowitz was born on 7 February 1974 and he came from South Africa. He was a computer consultant who lived at 23 Rutland Park, Willesden Green, London, NW2. He died, aged 25 years, on 5 October 1999 in the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster, having come to the UK about three months earlier. He was travelling aboard the 8.06am Thames Trains Turbo train from Paddington to Bedwyn, Wiltshire, when it collided with the 6.03am First Great Western High Speed Train from Cheltenham Spa to Paddington at Ladbroke Grove. At the subsequent inquest it was recorded that he died from injuries to his head, chest and abdomen.
