Dr George Webster

General Practioner. Founded the first British Medical Association, which existed 1836 - 1845. Worked in Dulwich, 1815 until his death in 1875.

At we find: " Dr Webster b Brechin {north of Dundee}, lived Dulwich 1815-1875, 1st President of BMA,or his wife Elizabeth Hall, or descendants of his 14 children, including Stephen b 1825(Sth America), George b 1827, James b 1829, Susan b 1831, Henry b 1832 (Dr Indian Army), Brandon b 1833, Hester b 1834, Janet b 1835, Dr Marshall Hall b 1836 (Australia on Netherby), Victoria b 1838 (m James Neill), Isabella b 1840 (m Percy Somers), Allan b 1843 (m Bede). Dr MH was my gggrandfather. Thanks."

From we learn: He graduated as a surgeon at the age of about 18 possible from Glasgow University. Father of Dr Marshall Hall Webster. The fountain was erected in the middle of the main crossroads but was later moved - though we can't find confirmation or any more details of this.
