Fireman John Henry Brimble

John Henry Brimble was the second of the six children of Albert Brimble (1852-1903) and Ann Brimble née Pritchard (1844-1885). His birth was registered in the 4th quarter of 1875 in the Bristol Registration District, Gloucestershire.

He was shown as aged 5 years in the census that was undertaken on 3 April 1881. He was living at 22 Stanley Street, Bristol, with his parents and his five siblings: Eliza A. Brimble (b.1875); Alice Clara Brimble (b.1877); William Brimble (1878-1944); Alfred George Brimble (1879-1920) and Emily Brimble (1880-1962). His father was described as a police sergeant.

He was listed as aged 25 years and a Fireman employed by the Metropolitan Fire Brigade and residing at the Fire Station, Upper Street, Islington, London, in the census that was compiled on 31 March 1901.

On 12 March 1902 he married Miriam Margaret Hickman (1876-1941) in St Michael's Church, Wood Green, Middlesex (now Greater London), where in the marriage register he is shown as aged 26 years, a bachelor and a Fireman employed by the London County Council, living at Chichester Villas, Caxton Road, Wood Green, the son of Albert Brimble, a policeman, whilst his wife was shown as aged 25 years and a spinster who was residing at 72 Mayes Road, Wood Green, the daughter of Thomas Hickman, a brush maker.

His death was registered, aged 30 years, in the 3rd quarter of 1906 in the Whitechapel Registration District, London. He died on 1 August 1906 and was , in Highgate Cemetery, Swain's Lane, London, N6.

He is shown as "J. H. BRIMBLE" on the London Fire Brigade memorial in Highgate Cemetery. He is also commemorated on the National Firefighters Memorial in Sermon Lane, London, EC4, on the  and on the .
