Damage in monetary terms was estimated at over £5 billion in today's money."
The 100-year old Creekmouth Village was lost.
says "water lapped the top of the embankments in Victoria and Chelsea" so it seems Central London did not flood but it was a close run thing. A committee and 30 years later we got the Thames Barrier.
The Netherlands suffered very badly with at least 1,800 people dying.
