Andrew Behan has kindly provided this research: Born Florence Fairbairn on 18 November 1894 in Poplar, the daughter of William Fairbairn (1856-1900) and Louise Fairbairn née Sergent (1864-?) Her father was a Moulder. On 11 December 1894 she was baptised at All Hallows Church, Poplar, and the family were living at 18 Dee Street Poplar.
The 1901 census shows her living at 14 Desart Street, Poplar, with her siblings and her widowed mother, who was a tailoress working from home.
On 9 December 1917 she married Leonard Tyler (1894-1973) at St Michael and All Angels Church, Bromley by Bow. Her husband was recorded as an electrician and they were both living at 143 Brunswick Road, Poplar. They had two children, Leonard William Tyler (1919-1978) who was born on 5 December 1919 and Richard Tyler (1921-1942) who was born on 28 December 1921.
The 1939 England and Wales Register shows her living with her family at 2 Dee Street, Poplar and her occupation was recorded as unpaid domestic duties but that she was a member of the Air Raid Precautions at Poplar Borough Council. Her husband was an Electrical wireman for Stepney Borough Council, her elder son was a Boat builder and shipwright and her younger son a Grocery shop assistant.
She was an Air Raid Precautions Nurse and died, aged 45 years, on 18 September 1940 when a high explosive bomb fell on Saunders Ness Road School, Isle of Dogs, London, E.14, that was being used as Auxiliary Fire Service Sub Station No.35U. She is also commemorated in the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour, located near St. George's Chapel in Westminster Abbey.
