Worked in the family gold-dealing business until 1874 when he gave his time to philanthropic work especially in the Jewish East End. Author of works of history. Bonus fact: the arch-devil worshipper in the 1968 film 'The Devil Rides Out' is named Mocata (based on a novel by Dennis Wheatley).
