Harry Tate

Comedian and impersonator. Born as Ronald Macdonald Hutchison. He had worked for the sugar refiners Henry Tate and Sons, hence his stage name. He performed in films and the music hall.

Born at 47 Osborne Terrace, Clapham Road, Kennington. Died at the Springfield Hospital, Tooting Bec.

2025: Mike Coleman added "When the biplane was introduced in late 1916 and 1917, the "R.E.8" designation spoken aloud was observed to sound similar to Tate's name, so the fliers nicknamed the aeroplane "Harry Tate".
