Commanded the Inns of Court Officers Training Corps 1913-16. He was the author of The Inns of Court Officers Training Corps during the Great War (1922). His death was not war-related.

Note : the memorial in Lincoln's Inn Chapel spells his name as 'Launcelot' while the has the more normal 'Lancelot'.
