Nelly Power

Actress and singer. She appeared in music halls from the age of eight and made her first appearance on the London stage in 1868. She was the original singer of 'The Boy I Love Is up in the Gallery', although it came to be associated with Marie Lloyd. Now virtually forgotten, she was immensely popular in her day. After her untimely death from pleurisy, three to four thousand people attended her burial.
