Electoral registers from 1922 to 1935 show her parents residing at 3 Block B, Jubilee Dwellings, Tower Street, London, SE1. After her father died in 1935, her mother remained listed there in 1936 but in 1937 her mother was shown at 7 Block C, Jubilee Dwellings, Morley Street, London, SE1. The 1938 electoral register shows her mother at 25a Suffield Road, Camberwell.

In the 1939 England and Wales Register she is listed as a printer's numberer living at at 25a Suffield Road, Camberwell, with her mother who was shown as a government office cleaner and her sister, also called Cecilia Townsend (1916-1970), a tobacconist and confectioner's shop assistant.

On 17 September 1940 she married Sidney Edward Wright (1919-1940) in Camberwell and was killed later that day, aged 21 years, in the Camberwell Green air-raid during her own wedding celebratory party. They were buried together on 24 September 1940 in Square 91, Grave 1, in the Camberwell New Cemetery, Brenchley Gardens, London, SE23 3RD. They are also commemorated on the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour located outside the entrance to St George's Chapel at the west end of Westminster Abbey.
