Patrick Emmerson was born in 1938. His birth was registered in the 3rd quarter of 1938 in the Finsbury Registration District, London and his mother's maiden name was recorded as Dumphrey.

He was living at 96a Columbia Buildings, Hassard Street, Bethnal Green, London, with his parents John Emmerson (c.1905-1940) and Margaret Emmerson (c.1906-1940) and his brother John Emmerson (1931-1940), when he was killed by a German bomb that fell on the Columbia Market air raid shelter on the night of 7th/8th September 1940.

It is not known where his .

He is shown as 'EMMERSON PATRICK 2' on the Columbia Market air raid shelter memorial in the Rose Garden, Old Market Square, Ravenscroft Park, London, E2.

He is also commemorated on the , on the  and in  that is kept just outside the entrance to St George's Chapel at the west end of Westminster Abbey.
