Sir George Edwards

Aircraft designer. Born George Robert Freeman Edwards at the site of the plaque. He became chief designer for the Vickers-Armstrong company which produced amongst others, the Valiant bomber and the Viscount airliner. The company merged to become the British Aircraft Corporation and he became executive director. He led the British team in the development of the Anglo-French Concorde supersonic airliner.
