Stephen Marshall

Stephen Marshall

Born Huntingdon. 1619 ordained as a clergyman. Became a preacher to the House of Commons and was an influential speaker and supported the Parliamentary cause. Died Ipswich and buried in Westminster Abbey.

When Charles II was restored to the throne he ordered the disinterment of the bodies of Oliver Cromwell and his supporters, including Marshall, and their reburial in an unmarked pit in St Margaret's churchyard, Westminster.
