Former cadet of the Air Training Corps - 296th (Stoke Newington) Squadron. Died in WW2.
The laminated plaque attached to one of the trees reads:- "Flight Sergeant Thomas Ashton Every, aged 23, (Pilot) killed in flying accident Tessumo, Northern Italy". There does not appear to be a Tessumo in Northern Italy. The correct location is Tissano, Italy.
His birth was registered in the 2nd quarter of 1923 in Islington and he was the son of Thomas Ernest Charles Every (1896-1962) and Margaret Every née Stanley (1896-1968). His father was a house decorator.
Electoral registers from 1926 to 1935 show the family living at 50 Buckingham Road, Kingsland, Hackney and from 1936 onwards at 45 Dynevor Road, London, N16.
He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, service number 1617506, and gained the rank of Flight Sergeant. He was attached No.93 Squadron when he died on 17 June 1946 piloting a Mustang IV aeroplane, serial number KH798. It stalled and dived into the ground at Tissano, Italy. He is buried in Plot 1, Row D, Grave 5 in the Udine War Cemetery, Adegliacco, Tavagnacco di Udine, Italy.
To claim he died in WW2 is stretching things a bit, given that WW2 officially ended on 2 September 1945.
