William Pitt Byrne

William Pitt Byrne

His father, Nicholas Byrne, founder of the 'Morning Post', was murdered in his office in 1833. His mother (Charlotte Dacre, author of Gothic novels) named him in honour of William Pitt who died the year of her son's birth. William and his two siblings were born between 1806 and 1809, prior to their parents' marriage in 1815 (tut). William married Julia Busk and followed his father as proprietor of the 'Morning Post'.
