Plaque

Andrew Young

Erection date: 1925

Inscription

In memory of Andrew Young F.S.I., first valuer to the London County Council, 1889 - 1914. He laboured to beautify the London he loved.

Andrew Behan directed us to where we discovered that the plaque was "designed by Eric Bradbury and unveiled by Herbert Hunter JP, chairman of the LCC for 1924 -1925." from which we have taken the (approximate) year of the unveiling. That website also explains why this plaque is here: Young was a major figure in the redevelopment of the Aldwych - see Bush House for more about this.
