Covid memorial

Erection date: 29/3/2021

This work consists of approximately 240,000 red and pink hearts, one for each of the UK Covid deaths.

Volunteers created this mural and, 2024, continue to maintain it.  First created over 10 days from 29 March 2021, it has been extended and maintained as necessary. Many of the hearts contain dedications written by members of the bereaved families.

This mural has never had permission from the Council and there has been an on-going discussion about, first removing it, but more recently, about preserving it.

The mural was organized by 'Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice', with the help of the campaign group 'Led by Donkeys'.
