Croydon Minster war memorial - plaque

Inscription

From Saxon times until closed by Order in Council this churchyard of Croydon parish church was hallowed by the burial of successive generations of Croydon people. In 1950 the corporation by agreement with the church and helped by funds subscribed by the public laid out the ground as an open space and garden of remembrance as a memorial to the Croydon men women & children who lost their lives in the war of 1939 - 1945.
