Site: Earl of Essex pub (2 memorials)

E7, Romford Road, 616, Earl of Essex pub

These people do seem to have been obsessed with the "Coronation Year". As well as these two memorials there is a large building behind this pub (to the left in our photo), looking like it was built as a theatre, with "Coronation" proudly inscribed in large, period, lettering high above the entrance.  Prompted by Jo Harrison telling us it was a cinema in the 50s/60s we did a bit more looking and discovered that it was indeed the , 501 High Street North, built initially in 1911 but then greatly enlarged in 1921 by C. Ash, and is Grade II Listed.
