Inscription

Kops Brewery
Kops Brewery was established here by a Mr H. Lowenfeld in 1890. The name is believed to have been a play on hops. Founded at the height of  the temperance movement, Kops brewed non-alcoholic ales and stouts on an eight-acre site and exported its products throughout the British empire. The brewery was converted into a margarine factory in 1917.
