This plaque must have originally been erected on the Church Street building, and brought here when the residents moved in 1974.
London County Council Edward Gibbon, 1737 - 1794, historian, lived in a house on this site, 1773 - 1783.
We can't explain the quotation marks on the inscription and think they are probably not significant.
