2023: Joe and Suzanne Lindsey-Clark have access to Philip Lindsey-Clark's record of works and they sent this photo together with the message: “We believe the original sculpture on this plinth is not the boy kneeling with the bear but a boy with a cat jumping up in front. The original was exhibited at the Royal Academy in the summer exhibition 1925 and several copies were made, one of which A. W. Cockburn had installed in Cheyne Walk Gardens in 1950. Philip Lindsey-Clark recorded this as a 'cast for the Cockburn Memorial in Cheyne Walk 1950'." The records also show that the model was Philip's eldest son Michael.
With some Ancestry research Suzanne confirmed that A. W. Cockburn is Archibald William Cockburn QC, 1887 -1969.
And then we found a clinching photo at . There spread 18 (page 46) has a c.1948 photo showing the statue in situ on the plinth in the garden. With the shadows, it's not a great photo but it clearly shows the same statue as in the photo from Joe and Suzanne. That report, 2008, refers to plans for a replacement statue to be installed. Let us know if you see any sign of this.
From all that information we have added both Michael (as the model) and Archibald (as the donor) to the list of 'Creators' of the memorial.

This sad empty plinth was brought to our attention by Stephen Cleverley. We were delighted to be able, eventually, to read all of the inscription and to realise that we had already put Jacqueline Cockburn on 91³Ô¹ÏÍø - a block of flats on the Tachbrook Estate was named for her.
