Bronze statue on a marble base. From : Wesley is shown stepping forward, pointing upwards with his right hand, and holding a bible in his left. He wears cravat, bands and a flowing cassock. The1988 bronze statue is after a 1825-49 original in marble by Samuel Manning the Elder and Samuel Manning the Younger. The marble statue by Samuel Manning the Younger, after a plaster model by his father, stands now in Methodist Central Hall, Westminster. It was placed there after the closure of the Richmond Theological Institution in 1972. Samuel Manning the Elder's plaster model had been exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1825, but it was only after the death of the older Manning that his son finally translated it into marble.
