The Kings Theatre
Designed by prolific theatre architect W. G. R. Sprague and opened on this site in 1902, the Kings was one of the earliest theatres to have cantilevered balconies allowing a clear view of the stage from all 3,000 seats. Many famous actors played here. After use as a BBC television studio in the 1950s, it was demolished in 1963.

This corner of London is totally changed, but it can still be seen by watching the (not great) 1955 film The Gilded Cage. The wonderful has captured a number of the key shots of the theatre and nearby buildings.
