Sr. Robert Geffryes, Knt. Alderman and Ironmonger, founder of this hospital.
This is a 1913 replica of the lead statue, the 1723 original of which was taken away by the Ironmongers' Company and placed in the new almshouses at Mottingham which were set up in 1910. Since then the almshouses have moved to , taking the statue with them, we believe.

The statue is above the door in the pedimented central block. Â These almshouses are now a with room settings from different eras.
2020: protests this statue will apparently remain in place.
2021: The museum put out a statement: ""We believe there is potential to , where we can better tell the full story of the history of the buildings and Robert Geffrye's life, including his involvement in transatlantic slavery."
