Plaque

Skipper Gandolfi and Kim Mayo

Inscription

{Left hand plaque:}
In memory of the leaders of the local scout groups that cared for the scout memorial.
Skipper Gandolfi, 1904 - 1990.

{Right hand plaque:}
And Kim Mayo, 1907 - 1999.
Kim inspired the research that gave FONC the Leysdown tragedy and the memorial that now marks the boys grave.

The wording of the Mayo plaque is a little strange.  In what way could research give the Leysdown tragedy to the Friends of the Cemetery? The memorial referred to must be the replacement since Mayo would have been only 7 when the original was erected.

Site: Nunhead Cemetery Chapel (3 memorials)

SE15, Linden Grove, Nunhead Cemetery

This ruined chapel contains 3 memorials related to the Walworth Boy Scouts Tragedy.  This tragedy's main memorial  (the remains of the original and the replacement) is located further into the cemetery by the war graves' section.
