Bela Bartok

Composer and pianist. Born Béla Viktor János Bartók in Nagyszentmiklós in the Kingdom of Hungary (now Romania). He was greatly influenced by Zoltán Kodály and they travelled together, collecting folk melodies. He performed in London in 1922 at the request of composer Peter Warlock. At the outbreak of WW2, he reluctantly emigrated to the United States. His most famous composition is probably the opera 'Duke Bluebeard's Castle'. Died in New York City.
