Charles Fuge Lowder

Clergyman. Born at 2 West Wing, Lansdown Crescent, Bath. Ordained as a priest in 1844. In 1855 he and other priests founded the Society of the Holy Cross, as an international Anglo-Catholic society of priests. He acquired land in 1860 and began raising funds for what was to become the church of St Peter's, London Docks in Wapping. Died at the Hotel Krone, Zell am See, Austria.
