Plaque

Bing Crosby

Inscription

{Inscribed on the plaque, lower right:}
Bing Crosby, whose legendary contribution to the whole world of entertainment was marked by a special 50th anniversary season at the London Palladium, Sept 26th - Oct 8th 1977.

{The lower edge carries an oval stamp at the left hand side:}
Meridian London Bronze

We could not find the sculptor's name on the piece.

Bing Crosby performed for two weeks at the Palladium starting 21 June 1976. The resulting live album 'Bing Crosby Live at the London Palladium' reached No. 9 in the UK album charts in November 1977.

There seems to be general consensus that Crosby's career began in 1926 which explains the "50th anniversary" on the plaque. That may be the year he made his first recording.

W1, Argyll Street, 8

The Vaughan, Grade, Centenary and Crosby plaques are all in the foyer area. The Forsyth plaque is, we understand, under the stage. And the Tommy Steele plaque? When we visited in November 2023 we were told that it is in the bar area, access to which requires a ticket.
